Terry Lacosse Painter, Gallery OwnerTerry's paintings are a series of autobiographies, visual records of the places that he lives in, his family, experiences and environment. A representational painter influenced by later 19th century artists his intent is to capture light and continually distill the brushwork in graphic compositions that are drawn from common and sometimes uncommon angles and perspectives. "My Winnipeg stories stretch back through my family to homesteads just north of our city in the late 1870’s. I grew up in California but was drawn back to Winnipeg for summers and grandparents. Today as I paint scenes of our neighbourhood and the beaches of Lake Winnipeg. I am continually reminded of what makes this place so special. Probably a bit of prairie light, maybe the six degrees that separate all 700,000 of us yet make this city such a small town. Telling these short stories through painting allows me an opportunity to capture a brief moment of history as it changes so fast for all of us."
